Growing and Supporting Community
Our commitment to being Good From The Ground Up® means creating lasting impact in the communities in which we operate. With a focus on supporting children, education and hunger relief, we’re proud to be involved in a variety of initiatives across the country.
Education
Giving Back to Education
For more than 10 years, Lipman has raised money and distributed over 14,000 backpacks full of school supplies in Immokalee, our home base. This signature event is our annual way to ensure the kids in our community are well-stocked for the year ahead.
The importance of education to Lipman has reached back to the beginning and has reflected a personal motivation for Max Lipman, founder of Lipman Family Farms. Growing up, Max was unable to read or write, so always strived for his children to pursue continued education. This led his six sons and sons-in-law to take on the family business as Six L’s, eventually rebranding to how we’re known today as Lipman Family Farms.
Although the name has changed, the dedication to supporting education has continued across the company and its communities.
- Lipman donates approximately $40k per year toward college scholarships for high school students.
- We made a one million dollar commitment to help build Immokalee’s Boys and Girls Club facility, serving over 400 children and young adults every day.
- We have made over $500k in donations to support RCMA charter schools, made primarily to serve the children of migrant workers.
Brighter Bites
Feeding Our Neighbors
Being in the produce business, we believe that no one should go hungry. We have committed to donating over one million pounds of produce each year nationwide. We’ve helped bring the Brighter Bites program, a Houston-based nonprofit that delivers fresh produce directly to families along with a school curriculum about the benefits of healthy eating, to Southwest Florida. We’ve been proud to donate tens of thousands of pounds of produce each year to the Brighter Bites organization, and have been named their Top Donor Partner of the 2018-2019 school year.
Employee Engagement
A Community of Giving
Our community efforts are a true grassroots initiative cultivated and led by our employees. From organizing a teddy bear drive for highway offices in California to preparing dinners at a local homeless shelter in Mexico, and collecting uniforms for elementary school students in Florida, we have a culture that serves each of the communities in which we operate. We also celebrate our annual Day of Good, a day where Lipman employees across the country join forces to give back to the communities in which we operate.
