Staff Accountant

Summary

Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Balance Sheet schedules and reconciliations
  • Review classification and recording of newly acquired fixed assets
  • Review accounting of disposals of fixed assets
  • Monitor expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to capital budget and management approvals
  • Work collaboratively with the tax preparers to provide documentation for various tax payments; reconcile related schedules and prepare payments when applicable
  • Verifying and analyzing account balances; be able to explain variances year over year while determining if the variances make sense
  • Resolve discrepancies by examining possible sources of disagreement and create correction documents as required
  • Participates in month end and year end close activities
  • Ad hoc projects possible

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 2 years general ledger experience
  • Fixed asset experience
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and follow through
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately is critical
  • Strong computer skills; particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Sage Depreciation; Crystal reports or IBM Cognos TM1a plus
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
